2016 Empow’HER’ment Women’s Retreat

Events in the City LA organized, planned, and created the graphics for the first Unspoken Angels Women’s Retreat in Los Angeles California, entitled “Empow’HER’ment Retreat”. This special event featured celebrity speakers from different cities aimed to inspire and motivate women especially those who were currently receiving services from The Dream Center LA. This event was held at the beautiful HOTEL MAYA in Long Beach. The Survivor’s Fashion Show benefiting American Cancer Society Relay for Life

Survivor’s Fashion Show planning is well underway. It will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 5:30pm – 10pm at Hollywood’s most breathtaking banquet hall, Taglyan Complexlocated at 1201 Vine St., Los Angeles, California, 90038.

Most Relay for Life groups engage in traditional fund raising activities but Sweeney Mae, Thanhdi Nguyen, and Latonya Washington decided to take on a bigger task of producing a fashion show featuring cancer survivors on the runway. “It was a huge risk for us to take. We weren’t sure at first if we could pull it off. With the help of all of our friends, family, and Relay for Life’s Event Manager Nicole Padilla, the show was a great success” saidSweeney Mae, Marketing Director for a shopping center and active volunteer with Relay for Life.

With the success of the 2014 show, the trio is back in action with more surprises in store. “We can’t wait to reveal a few things that we are going to add to enhance the event. Everyone loved the inspirational element of narrating the survivor’s story as they walk the runway. That will be our signature…” Latonya Washington, CEO of LW Special Events Management, LLC.

Civic Duty, Speedpro Long Beach, and Paul Mitchell School of Beauty were some of the main sponsors for the 2014 show. This year, Fabulously Designed Floral and Event Designer will sponsor the center pieces; Linda Hollander, the “Wealthy Bag Lady” and sponsorship coach helped with this year’s sponsorship package; and other entrepreneurs and business owners have committed to donating their expertise in kind for a more successful show in 2015!

In conclusion of the 2014 American Cancer Society festivities, the producers were recognized for their outstanding effort in producing The Survivor’s Fashion Show. “It was a lot of hard work but the joy that we saw in the cancer survivor models’ eyes were of genuine gratitude for giving them an opportunity to be glamorous for the night” says Thanhdi Nguyen, Marketing Consultant and Stylist for True X the Brand.
